W – Two Worlds


W is a 2016 Korean TV series starring Lee Jong-suk and Han Hyo-joo. It is a 16 episode series and the first TV project of Hyo-joo after six years of hiatus. W became a success because of its unpredictable plot and cliff hanging twists that kept viewers asking for more!

The Stars

The series stars Lee Jong-suk and Han Hyoo-joo who first met inside Jong-suk’s world. As the title says, the characters are living in two different worlds. Kang Chul (played by Jong-suk) is a superstar and a rich businessman in his world while Oh Yeon-joo (played by Hyo-joo) is a dctor in her world.
The two will meet, fall in love and find ways to stay alive in a world where both of them can survive and live without threat to them or to their family and friends.
Other characters include Oh Sung-moo, her father played by Kim Eui-sung. The shows also stars Jung Yoo-jin and Lee Tae-hwan as well as Park Won-sang.

The Story

The series opens with Yeon-joo looking for her missing father, Sung-moo. Sung-moo is a webtoon artist and the creator of W where the main character is Kang Chul. While looking for her father, Yeon-joo found herself inside the web series. It seems that Sung-moo disappeared after attempting to write final episode of his webtoon. Can Sung-moo end the webtoon that now includes his daughter as one of the main characters?

About the Series

The series was aired on MBC from July to September of 2016. For the series, Han Hyo-joo won the The Top Excellence Award, Sctress in a Miniseries during the 5th APAN Star Awards while Kim Eui-sung won the Best Supporting Actor. Jong-suk and Hyo-joo were nominated for the Best Couple Award for the said award-giving body.
